Plant Description:
Moringa (Moringa oleifera), also known as the drumstick tree, is native to Northern India. It is valued for its edible and medicinal properties, with almost all parts of the plant—leaves, young pods, flowers, and bark—being edible. Rich in nutrients, Moringa is often considered a superfood. The plant adapts well to various soil types, including nutrient-poor soils, and can grow several feet within a single season, making it a highly productive addition to food forests in New Zealand.
Expected Plant Height: 20 cm.
Cultivation Requirements:
Moringa is a tropical plant that grows best when daytime temperatures remain above 10°C.
Moringa is intolerant of hard frost. However, once established, it can regrow rapidly from undamaged parts in spring and summer, although dieback is expected in winter.
Avoid planting Moringa in waterlogged soils to prevent root rot and other related issues.
