Growing Instructions
Growing Instructions
Temperature: Mango's prefer consistently warm, frost-free conditions. In New Zealand, they will grow in northern and coastal regions, or in sheltered microclimates. Mangos require protection from cold winds and frost during winter with a plastic/frostcloth structure.
Watering: Mango plants require well-drained, loamy soil. Watering should be moderate, allowing the topsoil to dry out slightly between waterings. Overwatering or poor drainage may lead to root rot.
Sunlight: Young plants perform best in partial sunlight, avoid direct sunlight as this scorches young leaves. Mature plants grow into full sun.
Soil: Mango plants perform well in soils with high organic matter, nevertheless they are sensitive to salt-accumulation in soil. Care should be taken not to apply excessive fertilizer.
