The Banana ‘High Noon’ is a fast-growing dessert Banana known for its upright, clean foliage and its ability to produce full-sized, sweet banana bunches in warm, sheltered conditions. This variety forms sturdy stems with broad green leaves. In New Zealand, fruiting is most reliable in northern regions or protected environments. This is a tall variety, growing upwards of 3.5 meters, making it unsuitable for pot growing. Bunches may require propping to support fruiting stem.

Climate: Similar to other Banana cultivars, ‘High Noon’ bananas prefer consistently warm, frost-free conditions. In New Zealand, they thrive in northern and coastal regions, or in sheltered microclimates. Protect plants from cold winds and frost during winter, especially in the South Island.
Soil: Plant in fertile, well-draining soil with good organic content. Banana's are gross feeders loamy soils enriched with compost or aged manure provide the best conditions for growth. Avoid heavy, waterlogged soils, which can stunt growth or damage roots. Mulch is your best friend when growing bananas, aged hardwood, garden trimmings act as a slow release fertilizer, and protect the underground corm in winter.
Watering: Maintain even soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Bananas require regular watering to support rapid growth, but ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Sunlight: Provide full sun for optimal growth and fruiting. In hotter regions, some light afternoon shade can reduce stress and prevent leaf scorching.
